Did you know that you have a second brain? [Michael Garson, M.D., 1998]
You do! We call it the Enteric Nervous System.
Now in layman’s terms: What and Where is this system.
The Enteric nervous system is simply our gut! Our Esophagus, Stomach, Small Intestine, Large Intestine, and Colon all have their own Neurotransmitters [i.e.: serotonin and dopamine etc]. These neural chemicals are produced in the brain and also the gut!
How many of you knew that Serotonin was produced in the Colon and in the Brain?
Yes it is.
Yet Serotonin is separate and different!
How many knew that Dopamine is produced in the Kidney, as well as the Brain?
The only neurotransmitter that crosses the blood brain barrier is Adrenaline. Adrenaline is triggered by a primitive fight / flight response. In other words, when we as humans experience Fear or Rage, Adrenaline is released.
ALL those who have experienced Irritable Bowel Syndrome, ask yourself how you manage Fear and Rage [anger]. Remember that Serotonin is also produced in the colon! Do you therefore get depressed when you have IBS and / or diarrhea! When you are “afraid”, your ability to tolerate pain increases. That's Kidney Dopamine at work. Stay “afraid” long enough, and you experience Anxiety/Adrenal failure. Have anxiety long enough, and the “Adrenaline” in the gut will influence the “Adrenaline” in the brain! REMEMBER THIS!
The Alimentary canal [esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and colon] move nutrients through the body by way of a whip like motion called, peristaltic reflex. Most do not understand that this movement is electrical and timed perfectly. Our body has a series of pacemakers distributed along the entire canal. These pacemakers are called, “Interstitial cells of Cajal”, or ICC cells. Each area of the canal has a different firing/timing mechanism. This way food stays longer in the colon as opposed to the stomach and so on!
At the center of this system is the Small Intestine. Here nutrients pass through to other systems to be used effectively throughout the body. This center [Small Intestine] is very important to some of us biophysicists. We refer to the area quite often as, “Aurbach's Myeneteric Plexus”. The Chinese call it the “Dan Tian”. The Japanese refer to it the “Hara”. We feel that it is in the myenteric plexus that bioinformation is also transferred for appropriate use. Bioinformation systems within the body are part of the Nervous system and are influenced by acoustics such as the heart and the cerebral spinal pulses.
Let’s connect some of this together now. Bruce Lipton. PhD. in his work with Epigenetic’s, suggests that much of what effects us genetically is directly influenced by our environment! Dr. Gershon, Myself, and others feel that the “ENTERIC” Nervous system may absorb, as much as, 85 bits of information from the environment and that our hypothalamus [brain/loc] may judge / define 15 bits of information per sec. MORE information comes in from the environment than can, or maybe should be absorbed!
Remember my discourse on the MATRIX! Dr. Mae Wan Ho has described the fluid covering the connective tissue as liquid Crystalline. Therefore, a semiconductor. This means that the Myenteric plexus [small intestine included], coupled with the connective tissue matrix, provides an electrical channel for the ENTERIC nervous system to provide bioinformation to the hypothalamus in the brain.
The Hypothalamus maintains homeostasis [balance] throughout our entire organism. Every time fight / flight is required adrenaline is secreted and the hypothalamus records the blood pressure, temperature, sense of smell, taste, and the vision at that exact moment. Over the years, our enteric nervous system takes in 85 bits of information per second and passes it through this elaborate system. Most of the information is reacted to automatically. The FIGHT / FLIGHT now has a MIND of its own. You get Irritable Bowel syndrome, Anxiety, Depression, Fibromyalgia, and no longer know “WHY”.
An understanding of this entire network is EXTREMELY valuable in managing difficult Chronic issues! A team approach to medicine is called, Integrative Medicine.
THEIR ARE MANY SPOKES IN A WHEEL!

So, you've mentioned DIS-eases and also used the term auto immune (in the past). Above you've also mentioned Parkinson's which is neurological. So my question is: do YOU (dr. frank) include both autoimmune AND neurological DISease in your findings? If so, you really need to hook up with my hubby who has completely recovered from Parki's and now as an Australian naturopath, teaches others to do the same using what you are referring to/teaching in these blogs. :) He even has MS clients that have remylinated using natural/wholistic/complementary means! I think you guys may really get along!
