Epigenetics "Dr. Maye"
Epigenetics "The New Biology" [ Bruce Lipton PHD ].
Bruce Lipton is the face most associated, until now maybe, with Epigenetics.
How can you, or myself wrap our minds around this term. WELL! Lets see!
When you see a car driving very fast down a quiet street, you pause all other thoughts, and focus on the sidewalk. You are most aware of your safety. Something begins to prioritize your personal view of your surroundings. Your need for protection is currently more important to your survival, than tonight’s grocery list.
When you are relaxed and worry free, what happens, you forget about your safety and start the BUSINESS of creating money, art, music, business plans, friendships, vacations, and fun.
Your priority’s are creative and not PROTECTIVE.
We have just addressed two very different experiences that are judged by our Cortical Thalamic Brain as whether fight/flight responses are appropriate. The first example of the wreckless car does what? Our mind [hypothalamus] sees a possible threat. Will the driver lose control of this speeding vehicle? The Hypothalamus prepares our body to run faster from this possible danger. Adrenaline is released. The blood vessels at our core [viscera] constrict, so that blood and nutrient volume flow quickly to our limbs increasing our capacity to run faster or in some cases fight stronger.
The consequence is less blood and nutrients to the brain. We are functioning in a PROTECTIVE mode within an epigenetic PROTECTIVE view of our environment.
Now lets look at our relaxed patient! Not much to worry, fear, or to cause anger. This patient releases little Adrenaline. She/He finds it quite comfortable to plan and or CREATE today, tomorrow, next week, or next year’s agenda. Breathing is slower and deeper. The heart beats in a normal rhythm. Their family, work, and play time is a pleasure to construct. Neither, ANXIETY nor DEPRESSION is of great concern. The blood flow in the viscera [core] is NOT constricted. More blood and nutrients flow to the brain. A nourished brain is more CREATIVE! Of course the environment “EPIGENETICS” is CREATIVE.
During lectures I often inquire if members of the audience talk to themselves. Their hands slowly raise. My next question is, “Do you answer yourself back?” If your answer is YES, that is the PROBLEM! Our human experience is to forever daydreaming and comment on past events. Our friends and family are also participating in this exercise. Our neighbors, communities and countries do as well! The human experience functions by the laws of “Cohesion and Adhesion”. We move toward and attach to what we see as similar to ourselves. Your “SELF TALK” cycle is probably similar to your social circle. If they are very different, we criticize them until they are GONE. “LIKE stays with LIKE”! You have now formed an “EPIGENETIC” Social Circle [emotional health].
Back to Bruce Lipton, PhD! Dr. Lipton has concluded [and I agree] that our epigenetic environment may be a very serious trigger in turning genes On and Off. Why did Grandma get breast cancer at age of 75 and her Granddaughter develop breast cancer at age 45? Dr. Lipton is concerned that emotions trigger a Protective vs. Creative life. Those living a Protective life pump greater amounts of Adrenaline due to their flight / flight reactions. Their hearts, liver, kidneys, adrenal glands and genes AGE quicker. Creativity is one spoke in the wheel for “longevitality” !
Fight / flight is regulated by the Hypothalamus [brain]. When a three dimensional image [fear/anger] either real or formerly experienced occurs or is thought of, the Hypothalamus regulates the thought event. Adrenaline is released . The heart beat, blood pressure, senses of taste, smell, vision touch, and hearing are LOCKED in to that moment. Years later, a sense of smell can trigger a memory thought, self talk discussion and a FIGHT/FLIGHT response.
WELL! Lets examine our Soldiers, Police officers, Firefighters etc.. After years of 3 dimensional emotionally charged fight / flight experiences, many of which continually replay as daydreams, is it a wonder that they suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), poor marriages, Depression, Anxiety, and Premature Aging! Their EPIGENETIC environment is PROTECTIVE.
WELL! What about allll those who suffered physical, emotional, and or sexual abuse as teenagers or younger. Is your epigenetic environment PROTECTIVE or CREATIVE? Is the community you grew up in Protective or Creative? Were your parents Protective or Creative? How is your marriage? Protective or Creative? Your genes, relationships, job performance, finances, spirit, and health? Are they in a Fight / flight response?
Now might be a good time to re read the previous articles!
IS it, “Mind, Body, Spirit” or is it “Environment, Body, Emotion, Spirit, Mind”!
Are we creating our environment or REACTING to our environment. Epigenetics may not only determine if, but “when” you’ll get health issues, i.e. Cancer, Heart Disease, stroke, Diabetes, Parkinson Disease.
Remember that our Enteric Nervous system responds to our environment. Our Matrix [connective tissue] is liquid Crystalline, and therefore a semiconductor. The nervous systems of the body are coordinated with, and respond to our epigenetic world view.
It is EXTREMELY important that your physician factor these views into your treatment plan. There are ways to correct alll these issues [Epigenetics, Enteric, Matrix]. They are available! They are within your grasp. Your physician can refer you to a specialist. You are now informed and AWARE.
Your environment, enteric/autonomic Nervous systems and Matrix must alll be harmonically in rhythm with your RNA/DNA.
Finally, what epigenetic environment are you providing for your CHILDREN and those whom you love.
Are the Epigenetics of addiction, cynicism, criticism, physical and emotional abuse contagious? YOU BET THEY ARE. It may be the difference between a mild case or one that is fatal!
When you love or like someone your bioenergetics are cohesive. Therefore, you reach out to hug. When you are fearful or angry your Bioenergetcs are oscillating [disperse] and you push away. I ASK, Are your EPIGENETICS pushing [protective] or hugging [ creative] ?
If you like these articles, please share them with your social circle.

ENTERIC NERVOUS SYSTEM "THE LITTLE BRAIN"
Did you know that you have a second brain? [Michael Garson, M.D., 1998]
You do! We call it the Enteric Nervous System.
Now in layman’s terms: What and Where is this system.
The Enteric nervous system is simply our gut! Our Esophagus, Stomach, Small Intestine, Large Intestine, and Colon all have their own Neurotransmitters [i.e.: serotonin and dopamine etc]. These neural chemicals are produced in the brain and also the gut!
How many of you knew that Serotonin was produced in the Colon and in the Brain?
Yes it is.
Yet Serotonin is separate and different!
How many knew that Dopamine is produced in the Kidney, as well as the Brain?
The only neurotransmitter that crosses the blood brain barrier is Adrenaline. Adrenaline is triggered by a primitive fight / flight response. In other words, when we as humans experience Fear or Rage, Adrenaline is released.
ALL those who have experienced Irritable Bowel Syndrome, ask yourself how you manage Fear and Rage [anger]. Remember that Serotonin is also produced in the colon! Do you therefore get depressed when you have IBS and / or diarrhea! When you are “afraid”, your ability to tolerate pain increases. That's Kidney Dopamine at work. Stay “afraid” long enough, and you experience Anxiety/Adrenal failure. Have anxiety long enough, and the “Adrenaline” in the gut will influence the “Adrenaline” in the brain! REMEMBER THIS!
The Alimentary canal [esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and colon] move nutrients through the body by way of a whip like motion called, peristaltic reflex. Most do not understand that this movement is electrical and timed perfectly. Our body has a series of pacemakers distributed along the entire canal. These pacemakers are called, “Interstitial cells of Cajal”, or ICC cells. Each area of the canal has a different firing/timing mechanism. This way food stays longer in the colon as opposed to the stomach and so on!
At the center of this system is the Small Intestine. Here nutrients pass through to other systems to be used effectively throughout the body. This center [Small Intestine] is very important to some of us biophysicists. We refer to the area quite often as, “Aurbach's Myeneteric Plexus”. The Chinese call it the “Dan Tian”. The Japanese refer to it the “Hara”. We feel that it is in the myenteric plexus that bioinformation is also transferred for appropriate use. Bioinformation systems within the body are part of the Nervous system and are influenced by acoustics such as the heart and the cerebral spinal pulses.
Let’s connect some of this together now. Bruce Lipton. PhD. in his work with Epigenetic’s, suggests that much of what effects us genetically is directly influenced by our environment! Dr. Gershon, Myself, and others feel that the “ENTERIC” Nervous system may absorb, as much as, 85 bits of information from the environment and that our hypothalamus [brain/loc] may judge / define 15 bits of information per sec. MORE information comes in from the environment than can, or maybe should be absorbed!
Remember my discourse on the MATRIX! Dr. Mae Wan Ho has described the fluid covering the connective tissue as liquid Crystalline. Therefore, a semiconductor. This means that the Myenteric plexus [small intestine included], coupled with the connective tissue matrix, provides an electrical channel for the ENTERIC nervous system to provide bioinformation to the hypothalamus in the brain.
The Hypothalamus maintains homeostasis [balance] throughout our entire organism. Every time fight / flight is required adrenaline is secreted and the hypothalamus records the blood pressure, temperature, sense of smell, taste, and the vision at that exact moment. Over the years, our enteric nervous system takes in 85 bits of information per second and passes it through this elaborate system. Most of the information is reacted to automatically. The FIGHT / FLIGHT now has a MIND of its own. You get Irritable Bowel syndrome, Anxiety, Depression, Fibromyalgia, and no longer know “WHY”.
An understanding of this entire network is EXTREMELY valuable in managing difficult Chronic issues! A team approach to medicine is called, Integrative Medicine.

MATRIX
Today let’s bring our attention to the “Biological Matrix”
What is the Matrix in layman’s terms?
It is the fluid that passes over, touches, and surrounds the connective tissue of the body. The connective tissue is just that; tissues that touch and or connect with bone, ligament, muscle, flesh etc.
ALL nutrients and toxins pass through this medium on their way in, and out of the cell!
An unhealthy Matrix prevents absorption and inhibits the body to detoxify itself. Imagine swimming in a stagnant lake covered with algae. You can't wrap your mind around that concept can you? Most of you have a Matrix similar to this nasty vision. Autoimmune Diseases, Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Obesity, all include a Dysfunctional Matrix.
Many do not realize that our Emotional Health is also very dependant upon a healthy Matrix!
The fluid of the Connective Tissue is liquid Crystalline [Mae Wan Ho 2006]. This means among many things that the fluid of the Matrix is a semiconductor. As such, the Matrix has a significant biophysical function. It transfers information from our environment [Lipton/epigenetic] to our Nervous system, to our brain and back to our environment. The Fight / Flight response of Fear, Rage, and Anxiety affects the Connective Tissue. The brain [hypothalamus]will record the blood pressure, sense of smell, taste, and vision, with the arterial flow and heart rate variability at the time of trauma, including the emotional trauma. The Connective Tissue records the trauma remembering the experience in order to avoid and / or respond to future triggers in our environment.
Please! Make sure that your Physician takes the health of your Matrix into consideration of your Emotional, Neural, and Physical health. Should he or she not be aware of the importance of the Matrix, add an additional specialist to your healthcare team who is. A team approach to healthcare is smart!

Anxiety and Depression
Are you aware that quite often Panic Attacks are more prevalent in patients with Mitral Valve Prolapse! Along with your primary care physician you should always schedule an accompanying visit to a cardiologist.
Have you checked your neurotransmitters [serotonin and dopamine, etc]. Have you checked for nutritional, vitamins, and deficiencies? Are you aware that there are tests which can be made available to check for deficiencies in these areas?
Are you aware that Homotoxicology has several Homeopathic medications which help relieve mild to moderate anxiety?
Are you aware that Scalp Acupuncture is extremely helpful in relieving stress and anxiety?
Are you aware that the Enteric Nervous System plays a significant role in symptoms of anxiety such as irritable bowel syndrome?
Are you aware that childhood traumas affect the Enteric Nervous System, thus contributing to many Autoimmune conditions, as well as Emotional pain?
This is blog #1. I am interested in sharing these any many other thoughts!
